Monique C/O 2010! aka Mo Mo!
Dec 2009: At the swim banquet moniuqe received a plaque for the most
improved girl! The same day she recieved her acceptance to Florida State
Univesity-her first choice. She is keeping busy by playing with the
Varisity Soccer team. She still is busy with the band practicing for
concerts and their Christmas Concert.
Nov 2009: Monique and the Splash Cats had success at the 2009 Swimming
district meet at the UWF aquatic center. Her 200M relay team took 2th
place and her 400M relay team also came in 4th as they advanced to the
regional meet in Tallahassee. Her 200M relay team took 4th place during
the regional meet to advance to the state finals being held in Orlando.
The 200M relay team took 15th in the prelims and after a big meal at
Friday's (-: took 16th place in the finals for the state. Quite an
accomplishment for a team not expected to make it to state.
June 2009: No moss gathering under her feet as the first Monday after
the last day of school, senior, Monique was at rookie band camp where her
duties as section leader of the clarinets, are to assist in the training
and direction of the new band members.
May 2009: rapping up another year of high school, Monique ended with
a bang. Her Girls 4x100 Meter Relay team took 3rd place at the district
meet April 21st, 2009 (51.40). 4th place at the regional meet in Tallahassee
April 30th, 2009(49.48). And 10th at the state meet May 8th, 2009!
(49.35).
Monique took 1st place at her school in the history fair for a documentary,
2nd place in the county held at The University of West Florida and was a
state finalist at Tallahassee. What makes the state final so special
is that it was held on May 8th, 2009! The same
day as the state track meet in Orlando! It was hectic trying
to get to Orlando in less than 4 hours. We somehow made it and she
competed.
Mar 2009: Track season has started and Monique is running for
the 3rd year straight. The first meet was exciting as it was the first
meet held at BT Washington HS since 1987. She said it was hard running
as there were people cheering her and she was trying to look cute while running
by. (-: Monique took second place in the History fair for Escambia
County held at UWF. She will now compete in the state competion, May
2009 in Tallahassee.
Dec 2008: Monique is the only Marching Wildcat on the Lady Cat's JV
soccer team. She loves soccer and tries to fit it in her busy schedule.
Near the end of the season she was moved up to Varisty. She didn't
play much, but she was excited to join the Varsity Lady Cats.
Monique won first place at Washington HS in the documentary
category for a video/pictorial narrative about about Jesse Owens for her
honors history class. She was surprise by that (-:. Monique also
made the All County Honor's Band for 2008~09.
Oct 2008: Monique a 3rd year band member and clarinet section leader
is on the 2008 Swim team for the 3rd year as a member of the
Splash Cats with 4 other
members of the Marching band! She has long days, getting to school
by 6:15AM for swim practice (she was always late), until sunset with band
practices, but she is enjoying it all. Swimming at about 2 swim meets
a week and playing and marching during the Friday night football games can
be tiring. Her swim relay team made it to regionals where they competed
at Gobsy's HS in Tallahassee. Somewhere in there she finds time to
study history and go to Choir rehearsal where she is the director of the
youth choir at her church.
Oct 2007: Monique is on the 2007 Swim team as a member of the
Splash Cats with 6 other
members of the Marching band! She is now a member of the JV
soccer team as a Lady Cat. This
is the first time she's played soccer and she is loving it. She is
looking forward to the 2008
track season! She of course
still love animals and takes care of her 3 cats and 4 (noisy) birds!
Monique loves to run and is a 400M specialist on the Booker T. Washington
2007 Track and field
team (she actually hates running the 400M(-:). She is happy
that she can finally beat her dad around the track! The 2007 boys
track team were district winners and the girls track team were district runner
ups!
Monique's 4*400M team reached the regionals where they took a surprising
8th place, beating their district time by 11 seconds just the week before.
Surprising as they were seeded 15th out of 15 teams. Visit Monique
and the rest of the team at

2006: She is the only member on the track team who was also a
2006 "Splash" Cat as a member of the BT Washington High School
Swim team . She just loved the 5:15AM practices...Good thing
her brother, Jeffrey II, was also
on the swim team as he drove her to the early AM practices. (And
thanks and good luck to Morgan Farrell who was Monique's "big sister mentor"
Monique's first year on the team. Morgan gave Monique a nice index
card that said, "call me anytime." Morgan received a swimming
scholarship to the University of Tennessee).
Monique, loves animals, chocolate, pizza, drawing, shooting videos and taking
photos. Look at any of Monique's school work and you will see an animal somewhere
or a story about an animal. Monique goes the 'extra mile' as she has
taken courses on line via
flvs.net so that she will be
able to take art for 4 years while in high school. She had shoot some
of the footage of the 2005-2006 band season as our "prowler cam".
Currently she is playing the Clarinet as a freshman Wildcat
for the 2006-07!
While she was in middle school as a Ferry Pass Eagles she ran track
while in the 7th and 8th grades in the individual 400M and mile
relay. She ran in the county finals in both events and set her personal
record in the 400M. . She was also on the Ferry Pass Middle school swim
team and made a splash there. She has maintained a straight
"A" average for the past 2 years at Ferry Pass Middle School...
She loves animals and in Nov of 2005 watched 4 baby parakeets hatch...
She also watched over as her hamsters had 13 babies last year which luckily
she gave away most of them. She also shares duties with her brother
of caring for their 3 cats.
Monique has been singing in her church choir for the past 9 years. She
also enjoys rollerskating with her family.
She was featured in print and online in the November 2005 issue of the
familyonthecoast.com.
