2023-24 Band Fees

Why do students have to pay?

We have to purchase and maintain instruments, uniforms, and equipment.  We have to pay instructors (Ms. Majors-Young, Ms. Britt, and Ms. Smith).  We have to pay for buses to any events off campus, as well as drivers.  We pay for our marching music to be written specifically for our instrumentation, and then for the drill to be written for us.  We pay fees to the state music association in order to participate in MPAs throughout the year.

How do I know the money is being spent properly?

Our board treasurer prepares a financial report which is read and approved into the official record of the monthly meeting.  The report is a summary, stating $X were spent on toner, $Y were spent on instrument repair, $z were spent on summer uniforms, etc.  Our finances are and have always been an open book.  Come to the monthly booster meeting, usually the 3rd Thursday of the month, in the band room.  Sometimes it will be held in the chorus room, but that’s next door and not difficult to find.

Discounts!!

There are 3 discounts available to all BTWHS Band students:

  1. $50 concession discount: earned when an adult signs up, shows up, clocks in, and works one concession shift at a home football game on behalf of their student.  This discount is applied to your 2023-24 Concession Fee, located in the Fixed Payment ledger of your student’s Charms statement.
  2. $25 fall discount: earned when an adult attends and signs in at TWO (2) band booster meetings between July-Nov.  (We do not have a meeting in December.)  This discount will be applied to your 2023-24 Band Fee, located in the Trip Ledger of your student’s Charms statement.
  3. $25 spring discount: earned when an adult attend and signs in at TWO (2) band booster meetings between Jan-May.  This discount will be applied to your 2023-24 Band Fee, located in the Trip Ledger of your student’s Charms statement.

Fundraisers!!

We will do fundraisers throughout the year, alternating ones that will benefit student ledgers with ones that will go into the band’s general fund.

STUDENT BENEFIT:

These fundraisers will directly benefit student ledgers.  I will apply your fundraising profit to any outstanding band fees, clothing purchases, or trip fees that may be on your account. If your account is fully paid, I will apply the profit as a credit, which can be used over the course of the remaining year, or rolled over to be applied to next year’s fees.

GENERAL FUND BENEFIT:

These fundraisers will raise money for the band’s general fund and will be used to help keep band fees lower for everyone in the following year.  We ask that everyone participate in these as the benefits are enjoyed by everyone.

2023-24 Band Fees

Fee amounts owed by students will vary depending on the part they play in the program.  Every student in the program is charged base band fees.  In addition to base fees, students using school-owned instruments are charged an additional instrument use fee.  Majorette and color guard students are charged an additional guard/majorette fee to offset the cost of their uniforms.  Here’s how it breaks down this year:

CONCESSION FEE: $50
BASE BAND FEES: $325
*INSTRUMENT USE: $120
*GUARD/MAJORETTE: $150

Just tell me how much I owe!

  • If your student is a wind player using their own instrument, their fees will total $375.
  • If your student is a percussion player or a wind player using a school-owned instrument, their fees will total $495.
  • If your student is a member of the color guard or a majorette, their annual fees will total $525.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE DISCOUNTS & FUNDRAISERS!

Each student is eligible for $100 in discounts, and encouraged to participate in every fundraiser to help offset these fees.

How to pay:

When are fees due?

Is your student going on the band trip?  All band fees & trip fees are due 3/1/2024. **students on subscription billing with no missed payments will have 2 months of billing left in their cycle and are exempt from this rule.**

If your student is not going on the band trip, all fees are due 5/1/2024.

A note about unpaid fees:

Unpaid fees do not go away.  Unpaid fees (band fees, athletic fees, overdue library books, missing Chromebooks, etc.) will linger on your student’s district account and must be paid before the student can attend prom, participate in graduation ceremonies, or be withdrawn.  Please take care of your fees in a timely manner!
