Marching MPA Saturday Update: Are We Being Punked? 🌧️

We think we’re being punked. 😂

With a tropical system currently developing in the Gulf and the potential for significant rain and bad weather across our area, we are now officially operating under Plan E… or possibly Plan F. Who can keep track?!

Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) will let us know no later than Thursday, October 8 whether Marching MPA will take place as scheduled on Saturday, October 10, or be postponed to the rain-delay date (which we do not currently know and can not find on their website or in local chapter meeting minutes, to further confuse things).

Chick-fil-A Meal — CANCELLED

Because we may not know until Thursday whether Saturday’s schedule is happening, we do not want to collect money and ask families to purchase Chick-fil-A meals that we may not be able to provide.

Trying to collect money and place an order after Thursday would be nearly impossible with everything else happening, so we’re changing the plan now.

If MPA happens as scheduled Saturday:

Students and volunteers need to eat lunch BEFORE reporting — no later than 12:30 p.m.

The boosters will provide:

  • Healthy snacks + drinks before we leave for Choctaw around 4:00 p.m.
  • Healthy snacks + drinks after our performance before we leave Choctaw around 6:45 p.m.

We will return directly to campus, with an estimated arrival around 8:30 p.m. Students will unload the truck, be dismissed quickly, and then be free to leave and eat some actual food. 😉

We hate changing plans as much as anyone. This organization steers more like a cruise ship than a precision race car, and changing direction with very little notice is not exactly our specialty.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility while we wait for FBA’s decision. As soon as we receive official instructions, we will pass along the details.

For now: eat lunch before you report Saturday, and keep an eye on your messages for further updates.
