Marching MPA: Saturday 10/11/25

We just got our performance time for Marching Band Music Performance on 10/11!  The BTWHS Marching Band will perform for judges at 1:30pm on the football field at Ft. Walton Beach High School.  Our day will start MUCH earlier, though!  Please make sure that your band student’s calendar reflects all the events listed below:

Things to know about Marching MPA Week:

MONDAY REHEARSAL: 

  • We will have a full marching band rehearsal on Monday, Oct. 6 from 3:30-6:00pm.  This is the only full band marching we have on a Monday – please mark your calendars now!

NO SPLIT REHEARSALS OR CLUB MEETINGS: 

  • This is the only week that we do not share band students.  This is our final push before competition and every single moment we can perform as a group counts!  We need every student present at every rehearsal from start to finish all week!

EARLY REPORT TIME ON MPA DAY (SATURDAY): 

  • Ft. Walton Beach HS is hosting Marching MPA this year (it alternates between FWB and Tate) and their admin scheduled their homecoming for the week of MPA.  Their HOCO dance will be the evening of MPA.  The MPA performance schedule has been moved up hours earlier than usual to accommodate this – the first band on the schedule performs at 9:30am!  We always do a dress rehearsal here at Booker T. before we leave for MPA, so you can expect a report time around 7am.

BAND FAMILY IS WELCOME TO ATTEND!

  • Tickets cost $15 at the door, but children 6 & under are free, as well as adults 65 and older.  
  • Host schools usually sell shout-outs; you can purchase a shout out that the announcer will read over the PA as the band enters the stadium.  I have learned MANY band student’s family nicknames over the years during MPA shoutouts.  

I WILL LIVESTREAM FROM THE SIDELINES:

  • As with most of our performances, I will livestream our Marching MPA performance from the sidelines.  Please tune in to our YouTube channel around 1:25 to catch it!

VOLUNTEERS:

  • We will need chaperones, equipment crew workers, and uniform room workers (two different shifts: one before we leave and one after we get back).  Sign-ups are available in CutTime now, but I guesstimated times as we don’t have the itinerary yet.  Once we have a definite itinerary I’ll update times.

MEAL DEALS:  

  • The school that hosts Marching MPA always offers a meal deal to visiting schools.  As soon as FWBHS sends us ordering information we will make an online order form for you to fill out.  These preorders are open to students, chaperones, and equipment crew!  
  • Here’s how to guarantee you’ll have a meal deal waiting for your student/chaperone/equipment crew worker after our performance:
    • Place your preorder using the online order form I will send out (once we get the info)
    • Pay for your meal deal(s)
      • Cash in the band room drop box
      • CashApp: $BTWHSband 
        • YOU MUST PUT YOUR STUDENT’S NAME IN THE MEMO LINE, ALONG WITH ‘MPA MEAL DEAL’ SO I KNOW WHO IT IS FOR!
    • I will message a link to a spreadsheet to everyone (and display it on the band room TVs the days I’m at school) of all students, chaperones, and equipment crew workers that have A) ordered and B) paid for their meal deal.  Meal deals will be ordered ONLY for the people on the list! 
    • If you do not want to order a meal deal, you may pack a lunch to bring.
  • Meal deals usually cost around $8 for the following items:
    • CHOOSE ONE: hamburger, cheeseburger, hot dog
    • Chips
    • Bottle of water
  • We’ll send out another message once we get more information about this!
