Get ahead of the game!
We’re getting these dates out NOW so everyone can prepare their bodies, minds, and family calendars.
Why these 3 weird days of band camp?!
We used to do an 8-day camp during summer break before school picked back up. We gain/lose students once the school year starts in drastic numbers every year and always had to redraw the drill and reteach everything we learned. We began this 3 day camp after school starts after COVID and it has proved to be a much more efficient use of our time!
8/10/23 3:30-6:30pm – Band Camp, day 1 of 3
Required of every wind, percussion, color guard, and majorette student in the BTWHS band, rain or shine.
We will begin learning & drilling the halftime show. If a student does not attend they will begin the season as an alternate.
Band Camp protips:
- Bring light-colored athletic clothing to change into after school – including shoes. Store your practice clothes in your band locker. Clothing and water jugs are not allowed in the instrument/drum/guard rooms.
- No jeans, no sandals, no slides, no Crocs.
- Students that do not bring/wear appropriate clothing will receive a 0 for rehearsal and become an alternate.
- Bring a hat and sunscreen.
- Eat a healthy breakfast before school and a healthy lunch at school – you can’t do this on an empty stomach!
- REMEMBER: Garbage in, garbage out! Garbage out is GROSS.
- If possible, pack a healthy snack to eat before practice. Students are not allowed to leave campus between school and rehearsal – this is a district rule.
- Bring an insulated, refillable water jug with your name on it. This is REQUIRED. We have coolers of ice water for refills but do not supply cups – it’s a huge waste of time and resources. Store your water jug in your band locker during the school day. Clothing and water jugs are not allowed in the instrument/drum/guard rooms.
8/11/23 3:30-6:30pm – Band Camp, day 2 of 3
