+You will need to provide these items.  Concert black is explained below.

Summer uniform:

  • Blue “I’m With The Band” shirt, tucked into
  • Gray band shorts
  • Short black socks (guard/majorettes may differ)
  • Clean marching shoes
  • Blue band ball cap (guard/majorettes may differ)

PLEASE NOTE:

The point of wearing a uniform is for everyone to look the same.  The summer uniform is perhaps not the latest, fanciest haute couture out of Milan or NYC, but everyone will look exactly like you so please don’t feel conspicuous.  Now that we’re all fine with that, let’s talk about hair, jewelry, etc:

  • All long hair must be pulled back and secured in a pony tail or braid.
  • No visible jewelry (rings, bracelets, watches etc.).
  • No face paint/temporary hair color, even if it’s exquisitely drawn in our school colors
  • Clear nail polish only

Full marching uniform: wind/percussion

BASE LAYER:

  • band shirt

ON TOP:

  • Uniform jacket
  • Uniform pants
  • Band ball cap, will be swapped out before halftime for
  • uniform hat with plume
  • TALL black socks
  • clean marching shoes
  • spats
  • gloves

PLEASE NOTE:

HAIR: Musicians like to show their individuality and we have NO problem with that.  Having said that, we do ask that you please do not color your hair for the weeks we wear full uniforms.  You are going to sweat – a LOT – and we already have two brand new uniform coats that have been ruined by students sweating hair color into them.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter!

“I need a new (insert uniform part here)!”

It’s going to happen, but with a little planning and experience it shouldn’t happen OFTEN.  In the past we’ve had students charge a new ball cap every game, until I spoke to his mom at a booster meeting.  That piles up quickly!

If your student shows up on a performance night and they are missing a part of their uniform they have 3 options:

  1. Hope someone at home can bring it up to the bandroom before we line up.
  2. Go home with a 0 for the performance grade for being out of uniform.
  3. Purchase a replacement uniform part from the uniform room.

Ms. Rhonda, our uniform chair, will keep an order form in the uniform room on performance nights.  Students may pay cash at the time or they can charge the item to their Charms ledger.  Rhonda will turn in the orders to me and I will charge student ledgers the following week.  I try really hard to remember to email you a statement if I do anything to change the balance of your ledger, but it is something you can easily track by logging into Charms.

We can also sell uniform parts or chaperone shirts during booster meetings.  Make sure to see Ms. Rhonda!

We do not have “loaner shoes” or “loaner shorts” or “loaner anything.”  We expect students to remember their uniform.  Set a reminder on your phone for Thursday night: “gather uniform for game tomorrow”.  There are a lot of ways to help you be successful and this is the sort of thing you’ll be grateful for learning in high school, trust me!

Having said that, here’s the cost for replacing individual uniform parts:

If you need to replace    It costs
Blue “I’m With the Band” shirt$15
Gray band shorts$15
Blue band ballcap$15
Gray band track pants$30
Blue band pullover$30
Black band shoes$40
White spats$15
White gloves$10

It’s a lot, right?

I promise it’ll make sense eventually!  Feel free to chat up the Band Parent GroupMe (https://groupme.com/join_group/86606090/oYAwnJ7o) with any questions, or email me at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to answer your questions!
