Rehearsals

Wind Ensemble: TUES & THURS 3:30-5:15PM 1/17-3/2
- All wind & percussion students in the Wind Ensemble are required to attend all Wind Ensemble rehearsals. Students are expected to bring everything needed for a successful rehearsal: music, pencil, instrument, etc. Absences will be reflected in student grades.
- If we DO go to the FAMU festival in April we will add more rehearsals after Concert MPA. We will let you know as soon as plans are finalized.
Symphonic Band: MON & WED 3:30-5:15PM 1/18-3/1
- All wind & percussion students in the Symphonic Band are required to attend all Wind Ensemble rehearsals. Students are expected to bring everything needed for a successful rehearsal: music, pencil, instrument, etc. Absences will be reflected in student grades.
ADDITIONAL REHEARSALS AFTER SPRING BREAK: We do not have our spring concert schedule completed yet, so there WILL be additional rehearsals scheduled after spring break. I will let you know those dates/times as soon as that is complete.

Performances

District Solo & Ensemble MPA: Saturday, Feb 11, times TBA @ Escambia High School
- All students participating in S&E will be assigned a performance time about a month prior to the event.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from EHS.
- Please arrive 1 hour before your scheduled performance time to check in, warm up, and find your room.
- We will not need chaperones at this event, but parents/guardians are welcome to attend and sit in during their student’s performances.
District Jazz MPA: Friday, Feb 17, time TBA @ Pensacola State College Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium
- Our jazz band will be assigned a performance time about a month prior to the date. Calendars will be updated to reflect correct times.
- All Jazz Band students are required to attend. Participation will be a test grade.
- We will ride to & from PSC together on a bus.

Concert MPA: THU-SAT March 2-4 (date & time TBA) @ Ft. Walton Beach High School Auditorium
- Our Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will each be assigned a date/time to perform about a month prior to this date. Calendars will be updated then to reflect correct times. Each ensemble will take about 60 min from warm-up through sightreading.
- All Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band students are required to attend their performances. Participation will be a test grade.
- We will ride to & from FWBHS together.
- We will need chaperones! I’ll create a sign-up when I know dates/times.
State Solo & Ensemble MPA: Saturday, March 25 @ Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL
- Students that earn a superior on grade 3 or higher pieces at District S&E are eligible to perform at the state S&E MPA. Times will be assigned closer to the date.
- Transportation will depend on the number of students that qualify and choose to attend.
FAMU Concert Festival: THU-SAT April 13-15 at FAMU
- Wind Ensemble students only!
- This performance is currently TENTATIVE – we haven’t finalized this. If we do participate we will drive over on a charter bus, perform, watch a few ensembles, and then come home the same day.
- I’ll let you know once we make the final decision!
ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES: We will have additional performances after spring break but have not completed that schedule yet. I will update you as soon as we finish the schedule!

Meetings

REMINDER ABOUT BOOSTER MEETINGS: Booster meetings are the place to be to learn about anything band-related: band fees, payments, fund raisers, attendance, grades, trips, concert black, rehearsals, concerts, competitions, assessments, parties, banquets, board duties, board members, committees etc. Board members, committee members, and instructors will be on hand to update everyone on our progress over the month and will be on hand to answer questions.

REQUIRED Band Trip Meeting: Thursday, Feb 23 @ 6pm in the band room only – no online access.
- Every student going on the trip must attend with a legal guardian
- Every chaperone going on the trip must attend
- Legal guardians should bring a blue or black ink pen and a photo ID for the notaries that will be on hand.
